McCreary County Funeral Home

 

 "Serving the people of McCreary County since 1972."

"The McCreary County Funeral Home began in May of 1972.  The corporation was formed by Chester “Happy” Jones, Maxine Jones, William “Bill” Marnhout and Kathleen Marnhout.  With the establishment, “Happy” went on to become part-owner and president of the funeral home.  After three years when “Happy” passed away in October 1975, his shares of stock passed to Leroy Crabtree, brother to Maxine and Kathleen.

In 1991, the corporation merged with the Loewen Group and Maxine continued as manager until 1994.  Then in 1998 Jimmy Waters become manager of the funeral home.  In 2001, Maxine became owner and since then she and husband Jimmy Waters have become partners in the corporation. Their full time staff as of 2006 includes Phyllis Hall, Rev. Daniel Ridener, Darvin Perry, and Greg Goodin as a part-time employee."

Since 1972, Outdoor Venture, along with its subsidiaries, has manufactured and supplied a wide range of products, including tents, both commercial (family and recreational) and military, sleeping bags, and hunting products. The company was also one of the first suppliers of automotive air bags in the United States. J.C. Egnew, co-founder of Outdoor Venture, currently serves as the Chairman and President of the company."

Pine Knot Funeral Home

"Pine Knot Funeral Home Inc., was established in late 1994 as a result of a business venture of Mr. D. H. Campbell. The original investors of the company were Mr. and Mrs. D.H. Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Stephens and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Cordell.

Through some transitions, the company today is owned by Larry and Debbie Campbell and Greg Burdine. Debbie Campbell serves as the companies President and Treasurer and Greg Burdine serves as Vice President and General Manager.  Both Campbell and Burdine are licensed funeral directors in Kentucky and Tennessee, and both manage the day to day affairs of the funeral home. In addition, the funeral home also employs Earnest B. Duncan, Pat King and Cleda Gray as attendants."
